The Creature of Pleasant Creek
A mysterious threat terrorizes the citizens of Pleasant Creek, leaving a young teen and her friends to an investigation that will change everything they thought they knew about the world.. The Creature of Pleasant Creek is a thriller short film written and directed by Maeve Huttner, and produced by Shawn Ryan and Valerie Dohrer for the Youth Actor Theatre Camp. I served as the Cinematographer and Editor for the project.

We use this shot after the children see “the creature”, showing the isolation they feel.
Throughout the film we used wide-angled wide takes to show the whole group together.
As the Cinematographer,
We wanted to give the film a grungy look, playing deep in the blacks and relying on a mix of highlight filled shots and shadowy images throughout the film. We also utilized different effects such as changing the light mid-scene to indicate when they saw the creature and a snory-cam shot when they confront the creature. My references for this project were Mysterious Skin, Evil Dead, and The Protagonists.
